No Rest for the Weary
Now is the time to make your voice heard. If you're scared by what is on the nightly news, please speak up. We're all tired, but we must still lift up a unified voice. There is no Rest for the Weary.
The protests on April 19 will hopefully be bigger than April 5th, which reportedly had an awesome turnout of over 5 million protesters. Republican politicians are scared of Donald Trump's bloviating and Elon Musk's money. The only way they will have the courage to oppose those two is if the United States of America's voice becomes loud enough to be heard over Elon Musk's social media megaphone and Donald Trump's captive news organizations. We are that voice, whether Republican or Democrat, liberal or conservative. The Silicon Valley broligarchy wants us divided. This is not a contest between liberal ideas and conservative ideas. It's a contest between the big corporations and the men and women who trade an honest day's work for an honest day's pay.
The Boston Tea Party occurred because an aristocratic East India Company thought the Colonies were their subjects. The Silicon Valley broligarchs are a modern day East India Company. Curtis Yarvin came up with the idea of a technical monarchy. That's the goal of Elon Musk and J. D. Vance.
Trump's tariffs are destructive. The wealthiest feel that they will survive no matter what. They could be right or they could be wrong. Small businesses and family farms are currently at a very high risk level. The nation's economy is teetering on the brink.
China wasn't prepared for tariffs during Trump's first term. They're prepared this time. According to Will Westmoreland on TikTok, during Trump's first term China faced a shortage of pork because of a disease that had decimated a portion of their hog population. Their stock of row crops was also low.
Now they have no shortage of either, plus they have have established trade with South American countries. If we don't pry Donald Trump's attention away from his obsession with tariffs we're looking at the possibility of an extreme depression akin to that of the 1930s.
Here's an excerpt from Will's message on TikTok.
"Farmers have already taken out their loans. They've already put a lot of their crops in the ground. If there are no sales and there are no subsidies, it will be too late for small farmers and ranchers. So get up, Republicans. You Republican farmers get up and make those calls."
Don't allow your cattlemens organizations to speak for you. Don't allow the Farm Bureau to speak for you."
You make the calls yourselves to these politicians that you voted for and tell them you expect them to take their power over these tariffs back and to stop this freight train before it goes off the cliff."
Because left to their own devices, this administration is not going to stop it. That's your call to action. Will you heed it? I don't know, but I hope so."
Because if you don't, JD Vance and all of his friends at Acre Trader are going to make a hell of a lot of money come the end of this year when the harvest comes in and there's no place to sell it."
Corporate interests have been buying up real estate for several years. Trump's tariffs will give them another opportunity. That's one more reason why April 19th is important. Family farms and small businesses are part of the American story, part of our freedom. So is public education, upon which rural areas depend. We're all in this together. In 2003 Bernie Sanders gave a talk where he outlined the Republican strategy for getting people to vote against their own self interest. That strategy was to divide us.
Next Saturday, April 19, we need to begin to heal that divide. We need to send a clear message to Washington DC: Hands off our small businesses and family farms, our Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. Don't touch our public schools or benefits for our veterans. Quit laying off necessary federal employees. Congress, take back your control of tariffs. Tax the rich and end Citizens United.
Recently Nicole Micheroni received an email from DHS telling her to self deport. She is a US citizen, born and raised here. DHS admitted they made a mistake, but mistakes like that are inexcusable.
The president of El Salvador, Nayib Bukele, recently visited the White House. During the visit Trump told him he needed to build five more prisons to house "home grown" prisoners. This was a hot mic moment that is unpardonable. At no time should a president be talking casually about taking away the rights of United States citizens. Yet here we are. Also during that visit Bukele said that the idea of returning Kilmar Abrego Garcia was "preposterous."
The only thing "preposterous" is that hard working everyday people are standing on the sidelines while a group of wealthy despotic tyrants steal our democratic republic. There is no rest for the weary. Now is the time for action. If you're too old to join the protests on April 19, or you're fearful of your safety because you belong to a minority group, please call your elected representatives. We must all do what we can. The next generation is depending on us.

They have already begun sending deportation letters to American citizens. If people think it's only for those who are here illegally - think again. Status doesn't seem to matter, expediency takes precedence. And as we see, many errors.
