Be Safe on June 14, No Kings Day

The demonstrations on June 14 need to be peaceful. Anything else at this time is counterproductive. Dr. Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi left us good examples of how to win.

1 On June 14 No Kings protests will be held in cities and towns all across the country. Currently there are protests in California against the heavy handed tactics of ICE agents. It appears increasingly likely that the California protests will skill be ongoing on the 14th and will merge into No Kings Day. Safety cannot be stressed enough. Martin Luther King was inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's model of nonviolent resistance. We should take a lesson from the examples of these two great leaders. Violence is failure. The civil rights movement succeeded because of its nonviolent methods.

What to do if violence breaks out at a protest:

1. SIT DOWN-TOGETHER

Lower yourself to the ground immediately. Stay where you are.

2. SILENCE IS POWER

Stop chanting, put down signs, and remain silent.

3. SPREAD THE SIGNAL

Gesture or quietly tell others to sit.

Let the action ripple through the crowd like a wave.

4. DO NOT ENGAGE

Don't argue, confront, or respond to aggression. Discipline speaks for itself.

5. MAKE PEACE VISIBLE

A calm, seated crowd is a powerful image for the world -and the cameras to see.

Nonviolence is powerful, strategic, and united.

Also it's best if you're going to carry a flag, to carry a U.S. flag. Let the world see that these are citizens of the United States of America protesting lack of due process and tactics intended to intimidate.

The LA protests are for basically the same causes as the June 14 protests. It's all about not having a king. Tyranny isn't welcome here.

I would like to recommend another influencer I recently discovered on TikTok, who is also on YouTube. This person is infinitely calm in the face of the barrage of orange flavored nonsense inundating us these days. She speaks to the fact that MAGA refugees are silently leaving the dystopian world of Donald Trump. It's not a flood. Yet. But there are folks who have become disillusioned. There are people who voted for Donald Trump who are beginning to see that indeed, the emperor has no clothes.
